Location

Rome's Leonardo da Vinci Fiumicino International Airport (FCO) - located about 20 miles from Portrait Roma - offers service from just about everywhere in the world. From the airport, the fastest way to reach your hotel is the Leonardo Express train, a modern vessel that runs nonstop to Termini station in the center of Rome. Your hotel is a little less than two miles from the station; your concierge can arrange private transfers, though taxis should be readily available.

Given Rome's massive size, major traffic and ancient, twisty streets, we don't recommend driving. Exploring by foot or bicycle is an excellent way to soak in the city's history and sights. Rome also has an extensive Metro and tram system, as well as easy connections to regional trains for day trips. Your concierge can provide maps and detailed instructions for navigating the rail system. Private transportation is always an an option as well. There are many taxi stands in Rome, but this can be a pricey option. If you do opt for a taxi, be sure it's an official white vehicle with a "TAXI" sign and that your driver starts the meter.
